The GOAL of this program is to increase overall athleticism with improved coordination, speed, strength, and agility so they can excel in all the sports they enjoy competing in. The workouts offer a unique opportunity for them to work hard, compete, and push each other to get better.
The camp will be led by our head strength and performance coach Matt Jones, coach Justin Arceneaux & coach Ryan Kirkpatrick, all former standout D1 athletes. Our team of coaches will deliver expert instruction in speed development. With this specialized coaching, low athlete-to-coach ratios, and a fun & competitive training environment, this camp will give each athlete the opportunity to surpass speed barriers so they can reach their full potential. We strive to create well-rounded athletes so they can thrive in all sports they compete in.
Coach Matt Jones
I was raised in Jennings, Louisiana, and spent much of my time on the football field playing a sport that I loved. In doing so I realized very early that working with speed, strength, and conditioning training was what I wanted to do with my life. My college football career was cut short, so I made the decision to focus on my second passion. During the past few years, I have earned several certifications, including a Performance Enhancement Certificate from the National Academy of Sports Med. With a desire to do my part to impact and improve the quality of life of as many people as I possibly could, I moved to Wilmington NC in 2013, to work at my first performance gym, training athletes. For the next 10 years, I worked in several different fields of health and human performance. I began a two-year journey working with a 12-year-old young man who could not talk or stand on his own after suffering a traumatic brain injury to having him walk unassisted on stage at his ROTC function to accept an award. I’ve worked for multiple years focusing on post-injury therapy training and injury prevention at a retirement village. Most recently getting back into the athletic side of performance training, I spent time as a part of the Baltimore Ravens strength and conditioning staff.
Coach Ryan Kirkpatrick
"Hi, I’m Ryan Kirkpatrick. I graduated from Vermilion Catholic High School in 2021. After graduating, I was recruited to play division II lacrosse at Quincy University in Quincy, IL. I played three semesters at Quincy University, until I transferred to UL where I am now studying Kinesiology. I’ve had a passion for the gym and helping others. I can’t wait to meet everyone and help them achieve their goals."
Coach Justin Arceneaux
“I was born in Tyler, Texas and raised by the Community of Lafayette. After I graduated from THE Northside High as the state 100m sprint champion, I earned similar accolades at ULL as a national standout and the former record holder for the 55m sprint. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to compete amongst the fastest people in the world as a USATF elite sprinter. Teaching others about speed is an honor and privilege. Speed kills.”
